Instructor - UMD Academic Writing & Learning Center

The main duties of this position are teaching-related and may include the following courses: College Learning Strategies (e.g., time and stress management, college-level reading, test-taking strategies, etc.); Tutor, SI, Mentor, and/or TA Training; Academic Reading and Writing; Personal Development; and Practicum courses. Expectations include, but are not limited to, developing courses and programs to provide learning support undergraduate students, including at-risk populations. In addition, the instructor provides individualized academic support to help students meet their academic goals. The instructor works closely with campus partners, including academic advisers and others involved in initiatives aimed at retention and student success, to promote the Academic Writing and Learning Center and its services as well as to design new programs that meet emerging needs. Additional responsibilities may include leading the program's assessment efforts. This position functions interdependently with the Academic Writing and Learning Center (AWLC) team, including the director, the tutoring center coordinator, the ESL specialist, three additional faculty members, and the administrative assistant (see http://www.d.umn.edu/awlc). Some service, as relevant to the department, is expected.
