Co-Requisites: The 30,000 Foot View

Dr. Meredith Sides is Chair of the Division of Humanities & Fine Arts at Northwest-Shoals Community College in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. She has taught developmental English, integrated reading and writing, co-requisites, composition, and literature classes at NW-SCC for over ten years. Under Meredith's leadership, NW-SCC became the first community college in state of Alabama to pilot and permanently implement an English co-requisite model. She also chaired the English committee for the Alabama Community College System that wrote and implemented new guidelines that set up integrated reading and writing and co-requisite English courses in all the community colleges in the state. She is President Emeritus of the Alabama Student Success Organization. In addition to numerous leadership roles at her institution and state, Meredith is also very involved in the field of student success on the national level. After serving on the Executive Board of the National Organization for Student Success (NOSS) for four years, she was elected to the position of President-Elect and will become President of NOSS in 2022.
